No more Polaroids?

Bummer... just read a thing saying that Polaroid is going to discontinue and eventually stop selling thier iconic Polaroid film w/ the chunky white boarder. It sounds like they are planning to make enough film to last through 2009, and then pack it all up and sell the "technology" to another company - wonder what they're asking for it?

I don't really know why - but this sucks. I mean I'm sure the deadstock and novelty markets will keep them around for awhile, (or the future buyer) but soon they'll dissapear from our cultural landscape forever. I think there's only one logical way to send Polaroid off forever, (and to make something this insignificant seem worthwhile)... let's buy a bunch of Budweiser and a bunch of Polaroids and throw a party.

In other news, Belgian-based mega-brewery and beverage conglomerate InBev has $46 Billion on the table in hopes of taking over Anheuser-Busch. What?!? First Polaroid and now this?!? -We can't have a party to celebrate Polaroid's passing with a "Belgian-based" keg of Budweiser. Damn.  Augustus Busch IV (aka "Number 4")  is reportedly giving those Belgians the cold-shoulder, but he may very well be out-voted by his trusty board of directors. So again, how should we mark this moment of cultural (in)significance? - Let's throw a party.
