Big Announcement Coming!
We've been a little idle on the blog these days. Sorry about that. You'll see why soon.
Please stay tuned over the next week or so for the biggest announcement we've ever made.
Get the fireworks ready....

No more Polaroids?
Bummer... just read a thing saying that Polaroid is going to discontinue and eventually stop selling thier iconic Polaroid film w/ the chunky white boarder. It sounds like they are planning to make enough film to last through 2009, and then pack it all up and sell the "technology" to another company - wonder what they're asking for it?I don't really know why - but this sucks. I mean I'm sure the deadstock and novelty markets will keep them around for awhile, (or the future buyer) but soon they'll dissapear from our cultural landscape forever. I think there's only one logical way to send Polaroid off forever, (and to make something this insignificant seem worthwhile)... let's buy a bunch of Budweiser and a bunch of Polaroids and throw a party.
In other news, Belgian-based mega-brewery and beverage conglomerate InBev has $46 Billion on the table in hopes of taking over Anheuser-Busch. What?!? First Polaroid and now this?!? -We can't have a party to celebrate Polaroid's passing with a "Belgian-based" keg of Budweiser. Damn. Augustus Busch IV (aka "Number 4") is reportedly giving those Belgians the cold-shoulder, but he may very well be out-voted by his trusty board of directors. So again, how should we mark this moment of cultural (in)significance? - Let's throw a party.

I love being an American.
I can finally fill that empty leg holster of mine!
In other news, Chicago skips over Summer and Fall right back into Winter. More at 10.

If I was a Robot...
Ok - here's my new blog idea... it's a creative collaboration and everyone's invited to the party. The Challenge:
Create the world's most badass robot.
Here's how:
Finish the sentence - "If I was a Robot..."
Add the absurd, the ridiculous, and the impossible. -But be detailed.
Everyone is invited to comment. (In fact, if I could make it mandatory, I would.)
Once we've reached a substantial amount of responses and an adequate degree of preposterousness - we'll invite Josh to illustrate it and see what we've come up with.
Also, this Robot will need a name so me sure to include that too.
Side note: Happy 1st Anniversary to Josh and Shannon! -Congratulations... enjoy the show at MOTO.

Lakonic: Now sponsoring badasses!
With the office gym finally nearing completion, my dream to have my own private boxing gym is finally here! Although we've got a few more things to do — and I'm still plagued with more injuries than one person should have to deal with at one time — I plan on breaking in the bags bright and early tomorrow morning.
Because of my injuries, it has been close to 4 months since I was actively on a regimen. And lately I've been eating ibuprofen like they're tic tacs due to my sciatica. Fun. Nevertheless, I plan to start hosting my after-work boxing classes for the team as soon as next week and begin a 6-8 week program to drop 30 lbs.
We'll see if my body will allow me that luxury. Place your wagers here!

We be protecting these streets
Man do a lot of people get shot in this city!
There's nothing funny about that - I've seen some wild statistics, the sheer numbers are insane - but what's worse is how many kids are involved. Here at Lakonic we'd like to think we're doing our part to help stave off the gunfire, here's a little thing I found that I think speaks volumes for our efforts:

The good people at Google Maps have plotted all of the Chicago area shootings for the month of april and first 2 weeks of May. The blue tabs are (just) shootings, the red are murders. Below is a zoomed in look with the Lakonic offices at the center - check the results:

I think these images speak for themselves... Lakonic be protecting these streets.

Lakonic is the epitome of glamor.
Look, before I get into anything terribly weird, I'm going to preface this post by saying...
I know I'm insane.
I'm quite aware, and knowing is half the battle. I think the other half has something to do with squirrels on water skis and metric assloads of pudding ($240, maybe?). Whatever, no one needs to inform me of my illness, I've dealt with it all my life.
To move on to the meat and potatoes of my blog, I've created some stunningly glamorous photo-edits of the staff here at Lakonic. Saddle up, readers, this is about to get awkward.

I'm a pretty, pretty lady!

Oh, Elaine, whaaahappeennneed???

Shane, Class A Ladies Man.
And one more of my friend V, because who doesn't love leather fringe?
Sex appeal. And acid-wash denim. The two are synonymous, no?
STAY TUNED FOR MORE.
